ADAPT software upgrade instructions

Many of you who have received or requested upgrade instructions for the latest release of ADAPT-Builder 2010, ADAPT-PT 2010 or ADAPT-RC 2010 should have received an email with HTML attachments containing instructions to extract the required license files.

In some instances, after clicking on the link, no PDF document appears.  Adobe Acrobat 10 is not compatible with 64-bit OS using Internet Explorer as a browser.  For those users experiencing this issue, you can right-click and save the documents to another location and open them with Acrobat or Windows Media Player (NOTE that one of the files is a .wmv).  The instructions are also located here:

FAQ added for ADAPT-Floor Pro 2010/2009

How is serviceability reinforcement calculated for prestressed beams in ADAPT-Floor Pro?
Where beams are present in Floor Pro PT, the program uses 0.004*Act (ACI318 Section 18.9.2).  The program will internally calculate the effective flange based on the minimum of (a)0.25*span length, and (b)16*h + b where ‘h’ is the slab thickness and ‘b’ is the width of beam stem.  Section properties related to the effective width are used in calculating the centroid of section for Act.

Bug reported for ADAPT-PT 2010/RC 2010

A bug related to the the concise report output for provided, required and base reinforcement has been reported.  A graphical anomaly exists when no calculated reinforcement is required for a design and base reinforcement has been user-defined.  See the ADAPT-PT 2010 “Bugs and Limitations” page for additional information.

ABI Extraction Manual added

The ABI Extraction Manual has been added to the ADAPT-ABI page.  This manual describes the commands EXTRACT, FREEZE and others used for the extraction of time-dependent effects at specific days in a construction sequence.

The actions and displacement from the following effects can be explicitly extracted at any stage:  Creep, shrinkage, prestressing (including relaxation and secondary effects), temperature, externally applied loads and current.

An input file example is included with the document.

Turnaround time for v2010 upgrades

ADAPT has released the 2010 versions of PT, RC and Builder this year. The most recent releases were RC and Builder. Due to an overwhelming response and demand for the upgrades, the current turnaround time is 5-10 days. We apologize for the delay and appreciate your patience.

We are in the process of updating active support and maintenance clients to the latest versions. If your support contract was active when the programs were officially released, you should have received or will be receiving upgrade information.
