Key update procedure for 2010 products

I’m sure over the years of your use of ADAPT products, you have become accustomed to how we update license keys for our products.  We understand this can sometimes become a frustrating and tedious procedure.  Luckily, the future of ADAPT upgrading will be less time-consuming and the applications you are required to use to extract HASP key files will be much more user-friendly.

We are currently in the process of updating active support clients from ADAPT-PT8 to ADAPT-PT 2010.  ADAPT-RC 2010 has been completed and we are now compiling marketing and training material for this product.  The “official” release will happen during July.  For both upgrades, you will be required to extract a .dat and .c2v file for updating your key.  The instructions sent to clients via email contain a step-by-step procedure for doing this.  In the event the instructions are not clear, I have posted this short video which explains the procedure for both. Enjoy!

ADAPT-PT installation problems

If you have installed ADAPT-PT 2010, but cannot access a network license, it is likely that the drivers were not completely installed.  You may be recieving he warning, “No License Found.”  If you are experiencing this, please follow the steps below:

  1. Prior to installing PT 2010, uninstall PT8.  After using the uninstall option from START or from the control panel, go to C:/Program Files/ADAPT and delete ALL ADAPT-PT folders.  There should be no previous versions installed on the machine.
  2. For new installations of PT 2010, when the Install Shield Wizard opens and runs the user through the installation, a small window will appear behind the main Install Shield window.  This smaller windows  shows the status of the HASP SRM installation, including drivers and the Sentinal HASP License Manager.  The main screen will prompt the user to select “Finish” prior to the HASP SRM install completing.  Wait until you receive a message stating that the driver installation was successfully completed and then press “Finish.”  Reboot the computer and the key should be found.  If not continue to Step 4.
  3. For those who have installed PT 2010 but get the warning, “No License Found,” go to  Download and Install the “”  Once installed, reboot the computer and the key should be found.  If not continue to Step 4.
  4. Go to http://localhost:1947/.  Click on “Configuration” at the left-hand panel.  You should see a file path like C:\Program Files\Common Files\Aladdin Shared\HASP\hasplm.ini near the bottom of the screen.  Navigate to  this location and under the REMOTE>Server Addr, input the IP of the server hosting the key.

Bugs added for ADAPT-RC5 and ADAPT-PT 2010

The following bugs have been added.  See the appropriate page for additional details.

[6/16/2010] ADAPT-PT 2010 uses the “Sustained” service combination for determining the required PT force (Bug 3875)

[6/16/2010] Cracking moment of inertia, Icr calculated incorrectly at supports (applies to RC5 only, this has been fixed for RC 2010)

Tutorial videos added for ADAPT-Floor Pro

Two new tutorial videos have been added to Floor Pro.  These are:

1. ADAPT-Floor Pro 2009/2010 rebar interpretation – This video shows how to interpret reinforcing output graphically, in BuilderSum and in tabular reports.

2. ADAPT-Floor Pro 2010/2010 Strip export/import with ADAPT-PT 2010 – This video shows how to export a design strip from ADAPT-Floor Pro to ADAPT-PT 2010 and how to import a solution back to Floor Pro.

FAQ added for ADAPT-PT 2010

When I open a file in PT 2010 that was created in PT7 or PT8 and select to review results like moments, shears or Report Setup, I receive the error “No results available.  Please execute analysis first.”  Why am I receiving this error?

ADAPT-PT 2010 has a different file structure than the two previous versions.  When a .adb file is opened in PT 2010, the program will automatically create a sub-folder titled the same name as the file.  This sub-folder contains all intermediate files.

If you open a file created in PT8, the program looks for files in a location where they are not found due to the file structure for PT8.  To overcome this you must do one of the following:

1. Rerun the analysis and the program will create new intermediate files.
2.  Open the .adb file in PT 2010 and then move all intermediate files from the PT8 run into the new folder created for PT 2010.

Bug added for ADAPT-PT

A bug has been added for ADAPT-PT.  When “Force Selection” method is selected in the Recycler screen instead of “Calculated Force” method, the program reports incorrect values for elongation.  Note that when force method is used, elongations are immaterial since the effective force after all losses have occured is assumed for design.
